Fuerteventura

I have just returned from an 11 day stay on the Canary island of Fuerteventura, known as the windy isle and yes it was! Although it was more comfortable for the fairer skinned.

Our EasyJet flight took about 3hrs 40 mins. The transfer provided was a private minibus to carry the 8 of us to the resort of Caleta de Fuste which took about 20 minutes.

On our late arrival we were greeted by staff in reception at the 3* Cay Beach Caleta with a pre-packed meal of sandwiches, yoghurt & a drink which was a welcome surprise. We had 3 individual bungalows within minutes of the large swimming pool, which comprised of a lounge/kitchen area, well stocked with pots & pans, ideal for self catering but an extra for us as we were all inclusive.

The bathroom consisted of a tiled walk-in shower, sink & toilet, and a separate bedroom with twin beds and plenty of wardrobe space.

The Restaurant was light and airy with an outdoor area for al-fresco dining. There was always plenty of room, it never felt crowded, and there was always enough choice in the self service buffet.

There was always a fish, pasta, 2 meat choices, as well as a vegetarian choice, and the usual array of salads, cold meats & cheese. There were self service hot & cold drinks on tap as well as wine & beer.

There is also a pool bar and lounge/games room for the children with pool table, air hockey, football and a few slot machines.

Our entertainment guy Harry, who made our stay more fun with pool games, darts, mini-golf and a kids disco, he also did his own quizzes at night and had some local artists come to the hotel to perform (Magician, Animals, Dancers etc)

Caleta de Fuste is a purpose built holiday resort right in the centre of the Island. There are 2 excellent crescent shaped beaches within walking distance of each other with a walkway linking the two. Children will love feeding the chipmunks that live there!

There are many shopping areas on the seafront as well as a new shopping mall in the centre.

There are many 3* hotels & apartments as well as 4 & 5* hotels, the one I would recommend is the 4* Barcelo Fuerteventura and the 5* Sheraton, both with lovely spa facilities and are beachfront!
